Optimization - Content vs Ads |
Introduction
A good balance between ads and content will help keep your visitors attracted to your site. Its easy to think money, money, money but if your web site contains good content then visitors may become repeat visitors and possibly repeat clickers.
Repeat visitors = repeat clicks
Publishers sometimes overlook the importance of web traffic and repeat visitors. Remember, it is these visitors that are driving the Adsense revenue on your site. If you can turn them into repeat visitors then theres every chance they will click again at some stage.
Balancing content with ads
What is the right amount of ads per content? This is not a precise science and it depends on your sites content, the number of graphics and the layout. In general we recommend that you try to keep Adsense at a maximum of 15% of your sites content. Too much over this level will repel visitors and can even make them less interested in clicking you ads.

No content pages
Remember that pages with no content are against the Adsense TOS (terms of service). If you have pages with Adsense and no content you run a high risk of being banned. Its also likely that the Google algorithm won't be able to find keyword matches and the ads displayed will be untargeted. Untargeted ads are next to useless unless you have millions of visitors a month.
