Another World, just like Flashback, was a big success thanks to its early adoption of cinematic effects, cut scenes and sounds. Characters were realistic and the story was well scripted and engaging. The epic success or Another World granted the game cult status among its many fans.
As an adventure platform game, Another World looks very similar to Flashback but it was actually released 2 years prior. The player takes on the role of a physicist who has been teleported onto a barren alien planet after experimenting with a particle accelerator. The player must master running and jumping to escape the alien captors. Later in the game the player picks up various weapons including a force field, laser pistol and plasma ball.
