Content Management, what is it?
Content management is a big buzz word for let me control my site myself. All be it you can only control the content, the graphics and layout remain constant. These are preferable for people who have little knowledge of web pages and how to modify them. Content management is also a must for a dynamic site whose content will change on a regular basis. With the age of .NET content management will evolve into page management with even greater control for new users
Search Engines and Directories
It’s essential that unless you are creating a private website that you submit your site to search engines and directories. Almost all search engines search the web using ‘spiders’ which are just like computer robots that dig around looking for new sites. If you want to help point these in the right direction it is important that you provide links and have sites linking to you. If you unsure what linking means just think of it as a hand shake where another web site states they know about your website and want to advertise it to other people by providing a link on their page. Together with Directories which are just like the yellow pages you can improve your sites visibility. Most web designers will help you submit to search engines and directories, usually referred to ask ‘search engine optimization’. Remember nothings guaranteed no matter what they tell you!
