The original Batman game for the Amiga was based on the 1989 film starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. It was a good game with well-designed levels that closely followed the films location.
Starting in the toxic plant, the player had to work their way up to the top of the building using a combination of the bat rope and batarang to take out enemies of the Joker. The Joker would fall into the pool of acid and the game moved onto the fast paced street chase in the batmobile.
Looking similar to Outrun the player had to make precise turnings in a fast paced street race. Making enough of the required timings the player would get the opportunity to fly the batplane and then later move onto the final level - the cathedral.
The final fight takes place on top of the cathedral with either the Joker or Batman coming out on top!
The game combined good graphics and decent music with an authentic Batman feel. It achieved number 1 status for several weeks in the 90’s and was even awarded game of the year in Crash magazine.
