Once again the Bitmap Brothers pulled out all the stops to bring us one of the best Amiga games of all time. Released in 1993, The Chaos Engine was one of our favourite games that would keep us coming back time and time again.
Set in an authentic steampunk Victorian age, the game was perfect for one or two players working together. It contained four varied landscapes, each one beautifully crafted with varying enemies to blast through. All of the levels were deep, which was uncommon for Amiga games which always seemed too quick.
Players got to choose from several characters each with their own unique skills and weapons. There was the powerful Thug and Navvie; the all-rounder Mercenary and Brigand with additional special powers; and lastly the Preacher and Gentlemen with the ultimate specials but weaker health.
With some splendid music, not only did The Chaos Engine have good graphics and level design, but it was also backed up with great voice affects and a great ending.
