Prerequisites for the exam

Before taking the official exam you should check and confirm the prerequisites to ensure that you have the relevant experience using AWS. In particular you should have experience of the following high level concepts:

• Designing and deploying scalable systems which are highly available and fault tolerant.
• Migrating existing on premise applications to AWS
• Sending and retrieving data from AWS
• Selecting suitable AWS services based on data resources and security needs
• Architectural best practices
• AWS costs and cost control mechanisms

At a candidate level, Amazon recommend that you should have at least a year's hands-on experience using AWS to design cost effective, fault tolerant and scalable distributed systems. Knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (e.g. C#, Python, Java or PHP) is necessary in addition to the ability to define requirements for an AWS-based application.
