Following the instant #1 New York Times bestseller Stone Cold, Oliver Stone and the Camel Club return in David Baldacci's most astonishing thriller yet.
DIVINE JUSTICE
Known by his alias, "Oliver Stone," John Carr is the most wanted man in America. With two pulls of the trigger, the men who destroyed Stone's life and kept him in the shadows were finally silenced. But his freedom comes at a steep price: The assassinations he carried out prompt the highest levels of the U. S. government to unleash a massive manhunt. Yet behind the scenes, master spy Macklin Hayes is playing a very personal game of cat and mouse. He, more than anyone else, wants John Carr dead. With their friend and unofficial leader in hiding, the members of the Camel Club risk everything to save him. Now as the hunters close in, Stone's flight from the demons of his past will take him from the power corridors of Washington, D.C., to the coal-mining town of Divine, Virginia-and into a world every bit as bloody and lethal as the one he left behind.

great characters, plot slightly flawed This is the first David Baldacci book I've read, and I will be reading more. I love the characters and how they talk to each nother. The conversations are fluid and natural. Baldacci doesn't stretch out scenes; he gets to the point very quickly. I like how the two main characters, whom you anticipate are heading to a climactic showdown, end up teaming up in the end.
The flaw in the book is how the plot elements come together. The protagonist, Stone, intervenes in identical situations SEVERAL TIMES to save people's lives. By the third time Stone saves someone along this lonely mountain road you think to yourself whether Baldacci had accidentally written the same scene over and over again. Also, the sheriff of the town is a complete nincompoop. A visitor to the town figured out in a week what he couldn't in years.

Give Me a Break--A Real Stretch I'd read "Stone Cold" for an airport trash novel on a long coast-to-coast business flight, and enjoyed it. So I thought I'd order "Divine Justice" from Amazon since it was the follow-on novel to Stone Cold.
What a bust. Trite, predictable, and really unbelievable. I simply couldn't suspend my disbelief to get into the far-fetched story. Thankfully, this will be the end of the Camel Club--I hope. It has run its course.
Save your money.

Divine Justice It was not too long ago that I was persuaded to read a David Baldacci book. The first one I read was the Camel Club. I was hooked and quickly bought the next ones. Divine Justice continues the intrigue developed in these books. I eagerly await the next one.

too much one of Baldacchi's poorest efforts. Just too unbelievable. Its in the realm of science fiction
