Get Out of My Life review
I really enjoyed this book and it helped me to see my teenagers in a brand new light. It's filled with stories and insights that made me laugh because I'd been through similar experiences, and it helped me to understand that what my teenagers are going through is "normal and healthy," which helped lift my self-imposed guilt burden of being a less than effective parent. My only criticsm would be that the author has chosen to use foul language in many of his teenage dialogue examples. By his own admission early in the book, examples of teenage dialogue included are not actual quotes from teens but his own made up examples based on his experience in counseling. I know he chose to use the offensive language in order to "keep it real" because many teens do use those words. But I think he could have conveyed the same message without using these words directly. In spite of that, I still recommend the book, but reader beware if you are offended by "F bombs."

This book was such validation of parenting teens in 2009. This should be in every household with teens.

Insightful & Helpful Suggestions for Parents
Wolf uses humorously portrays adolescent behavior offering insight and helpful suggestions for parents. He describes adolescents, explains what they do and why and addresses what it means to be the parent of a teenager. I've got to admit that it not only alleviated my guilt for not being a perfect mother, it helped me to understand that making mistakes helped my children to BUILD self-esteem!
