This book has been loved to pieces by my three daughters.
There is more tape than paper holding this book together now because my three girls have read it hundreds of times. They all giggle uncontrollably at the part where Trixie goes boneless. The expression on the dad's face when the mom asks the seemingly obvious question (Where's Knuffle Bunny?) is hilarious--both parents and children can appreciate the humor. I also like the monochromatic urban backdrop, which sets off the bright cartoon drawings.
I tend to enjoy the more subversive kids' books, like The Stinky Cheese Man and Cautionary Tales for Children, but my kids senses' of humors tend to be a bit lighter. Mo Willem's style is a perfect compromise. No princesses, but no gallows humor either.

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale
In this book, Trixie, a little girl, goes on an errand with her dad. She has to take her favorite and most loved toy, Knuffle Bunny, with her. They go to the Laundromat and Trixie accidently leaves Knuffle Bunny. She tries explaining it to her dad, but all that comes out is baby gibberish. When they get home, her mom realizes Knuffle Bunny is missing, so they all go look for it. When they finally find it, Trixie's first words are "Knuffle Bunny".
I thought this book was absolutely hilarious and loved it the first time I read it. The illustrations that Mo creates add to the text so much and give the reader a little something extra and really make the story. This book is a great read-aloud, but also the digital pictures in it make it fun for children to sit down and read on their own. I give this book two thumbs up and recommend it to EVERYONE!!! Plus, there is a sequel!!! After reading Knuffle Bunny, you must read Knuffle Bunny Too.
