As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from "the space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

Required Reading for Everyone I read Many Lives Many Masters at the suggestion of my natural medicine doctor. I wasn't looking for anything of a spiritual nature, I simply wanted to improve my health.
I'm now thankful that I've had my eyes opened.
In my opinion, this book should be required reading for every man, woman, and child on earth. The message that is presented here is so much more than a detailed recounting of the reincarnation experiences of Catherine, the patient who is the central figure in the book.
Given my left-brained nature, I've had a hard time with spiritual and paranormal concepts. Often concrete evidence is lacking, and belief has a foundation in faith. With this book, Dr Weiss overcame my skepticism largely due to his well-grounded personality. Here was a successful psychiatrist who stumbled upon information that was larger than he imagined. Did he rush into print to make a fortune or gain notoriety? No, he waited four years to write the book due to his fear that he would be laughed out of the psychiatric profession. My point is that he was coming from a viewpoint close to my own, and slowly his mind changed as he gathered more and more evidence. In my mind, that makes him a credible witness.
I began the book with only a mild interest in reincarnation based on some experiences my sister had told me but I was swept up in the story and could not put it down. Afterward, I felt convinced that I had achieved a major breakthrough, going well beyond proof of reincarnation.
Please read this book. Also, if you can, read this before other books written by Brian Weiss. This is the foundation on which his other books evolved.

Hello, my name is Bob and I am living in the year 100 BC. Your name is Sucker and you are living now, but not very effectively.
The author did nothing to generate alternative hypothesies for the apparent past lives. How about having heard about past lives and wanting to please the treating doctor? How about hypnotic suggestability? As for the Deep Truths revealed by the Master Spirits, they seemed to be just trite instructions to the effect that one should be nice to others and try to learn throughout life. Fun to read, but.
The masters emphasise learning, which Weiss emphasises. I don't think that this is a coincidence.
Weiss raves on about his scientific rigor, and then just about asks his subject to predict the future. He woke up the same time she woke up and concludes she is psychic. Scientific, like Paris Hilton.
