Belkin Wireless N+ 802.11n Router (Black) |

The N+ Wireless Router features a USB port on the back, that lets you connect a USB storage device. This allows multiple computers to easily access documents, videos, and photos on the storage drive over a secure wireless network. Four gigabit ports provide the bandwidth and speed needed for media intense applications like streaming music and video.

Doesn't play nice with PS3 or PSP I bought the Belkin N+ router in July, and less than 4 months later, I have already replaced it with a DLink 655. The Belkin was relatively easy to install, but the router setup screen isn't as intuitive as other brands'. The range and speed were fine as well.
The main issue I had was the connection of my Playstation 3 and my PSP to the router. I was never able to get UPnP to actually work on the Belkin, which hurt my ability to stream data to my systems. The Belkin N+ router also did not work with Remote Play (using the PSP to control the PS3). Unless I disabled "Remote Turn-On" on the PS3, the router would randomly turn on my PS3 without any prompting by me. Updating the firmware did not fix this issue. (And updating the firmware itself had problems. The modem would say that updated firmware was available, but when it went to install it, it would be for a different router.) The biggest disappointment with the router was the inability to play games online consistently. I would receive many connection errors, even when trying various setups (DMZ on/off, port forwarding on/off, etc.).
Luckily, I was able to exchange this Belkin N+ Router for the DLink 655, and I have had zero problems. If you have/plan to own game consoles (especially the PS3), be wary of this router.

Conked out after four days I run Windows 7 with a Dell laptop equipped with an internal 802.11 n card. The Belkin N+ router ran fine for four days, then conked out, flashing the dread orange error lights on front panel. I tried resetting and unplugging it, and then restarted the computer and modem. It still can't establish an internet connection; my old G router works fine when connected to the same modem. Too bad I trusted the CNET recommendation on this item. Guess we'll rely on the old G router. I never got faster download speeds with the N+ router anyway, and not a detectably longer range.
While the N+ router was working, I bought the Belkin USB networking hub to connect two printers so I could print wirelessly. I thought since the router and hub are the same brand, they'd work seamlessly. Wrong. Even before the router conked out, the Belkin USB networking hub was basically worthless. Yes, I could see both printers through the hub software, which has to be running all the time in order to use the hub. Yes, I tried all three hub settings: shared, auto connect, and manual connect. With the shared connect it would of course try to establish a connection only on issuance of a print command. But that connection would take quite a bit of time to establish. Then, when a print job would finally start, it would suddenly stop in mid-page after three or four pages, then reprint from the first page, over and over. With the auto connect, the designated printer would connect on computer startup, but then cycle on and off anyway every few minutes, sending me a popup I couldn't close, telling me it was trying to reconnect. It was impossible to force a connection with the software as the Connect button was greyed out. Manual connect took forever. It's just easier to pick up my laptop and carry it to the printer and hardwire the USB connection any time I want to print, defeating the whole purpose of wireless printing.
I'm returning both Belkin products this afternoon. They have been a total waste of hours of my time.

Worthless junk I operate a Mac (OS 10.4.10). This router would not recognize the hardwired connection (through the Ethernet port) nor would it recognize my modem. It would engage with my computer wirelessly, but not through the Ethernet connection. I tried every thing I could think of for days, without luck. I finally emailed Belkin through their support website, stating my problem and asking if there was something wrong with the unit or if there was something wrong with me and what I was doing. The assured me that I would receive a reply within 24 hours. It has now been more than 144 hours (6 days) and I have heard nothing.
I stopped at Walmart. Bought a Netgear router off the shelf, brought it home, and hooked it up. Same computer; same modem; same hardwire lines Belkin refused to recognize. Not only did Netgear recognize everthing, it set up my connection by itself before I even had the opportunity to run the software setup in the CD which came with the unit.
Nonetheless, I did start the installation program. After the first step, the program said to me that everything appeared to be working properly, and did I feel the need to go any further with the setup genie or whatever they called it. I said no and that was that.
It did for itself in less than 5 minutes that which I was unable to coax Belkin to do in 4 days.
I bought an $80 paperweight from Belkin, and they seem to be in no hurry to make it right. If you're looking for a paperweight, I couldn't recommend this unit more highly. But if you want a router that will connect you to the internet, don't look here.

Great wireless router -- but storage link is garbage Router setup in no time flat; great speed and range.
Storage agent setup is a joke. The windows agent couldn't find the storage. I eventually had to map the drive to the IP of the router -- which worked (I guess). The real problem was the speed. It took me five minutes to copy 256mb of files! I thought this can't be write. I mounted the USB storage on my Linux system (cifs filesystem) and ran some speed tests. Sure enough -- less than 1MB/s there too! I then attached the USB to the server direct and got in the neighborhood of 25mb/s. I expected some dropoff in performance going from across the network to a storage device -- but not 25x performance degradation.
Needless to say, this is going back tomorrow. The whole reason I got this was to have networked storage that I wouldn't need to access via Samba (which is still 15x to 20x faster than storage link).
Great router if you don't need the storage link; horrible if you plan on using all of the features they list.
