The Linksys Powerline AV Network Kit contains a single-port Powerline AV Adapter, and a four-port Powerline AV Adapter, which let you easily create a network using the existing electrical outlets in your home. Now you don't have to drill holes in walls and climb through the attic or cellar to install network cables -- just use the wires that already run through the building. With Powerline AV Network Adapters, you can connect computers or any other wired Ethernet device using the HomePlug AV network standard. Adding devices to the network is as simple as plugging a Powerline AV Adapter into an electrical outlet, and connecting your Ethernet-equipped devices to the built-in Ethernet ports. Additional devices can be connected to the same network using additional Powerline AV Adapters plugged into an electrical outlet anywhere in the house.

Does what I wanted it to do... and very well.
Bought this to help reliably connect an Xbox 360 to Xbox live. The 360 is in the basement and a wireless connection was not reliable. This solved the problem out of the box... an idiot could install this equipment without difficulty. I am 100% satisfied. I knew going in the listed speed was theoretical at best. Not sure what kind of throughput I'm getting but I know for certain that I haven't heard a single complaint from my son about lag, disconnection etc...

Linksys PLK300 PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter Kit
I bought this item for my son because he has cable TV in his room but no internet connection. We did not want ethernet cords draped over the house. I was told by the cable service guy that it probably would not work, but it has been 100% reliable with absolutely no drops. The speed is sufficient to play the most current XBOX Live games and we are considering buying more adapters and getting rid of the very unreliable Netgaer wireless.

It does work.
I bought this because the streaming from my PC to my XBOX 360 was choppy and of awful quality. With this kit, the setup was just plug and play. Now I can watch HD videos streamed from my PC to the XBOX. Really recommend it.

Couldn't get easier
Having upgraded my TiVos in the house to TiVo HD's and adding a PS3 to the mix, I found I was moving a lot of BIG files around the house. Due to house construction and location of my office in the house wireless doesn't reach everywhere and the throughput is not great.
I had previously put some of the older Homeplug adapters in for reaching the basement and decided it was time to upgrade.
These were an excellent choice.
Installation consists of:
1. Take out of the box.
2. Plug into the wall.
3. Plug into device (router, PC, etc.)
Done.
While I don't get close to the 200Mbps number I do get high enough throughput that I can transfer a 1 Hour HD Tivo program in about an hour. That's good enough for me.
Package is nice in that it comes with a 4 port and a 1 port device as well as 2 ethernet cables. One of the nice things is that this adapter uses a regular plug to plug into the wall instead of combining the plug with the unit. That gives you some more options on locating the unit.
Overall an excellent choice for home network.
