Linksys Ultra RangePlus, Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one box. First, there's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. We've also included a Storage Link that lets you easily add gigabytes of storage space onto your network using readily available USB 2.0 hard drives -- or plug in a USB flash disk for a convenient way to access your portable data files. The built-in Media Server streams music, video, and photos from the attached storage device to any UPnP compatible media adapter. And you can get to your files from anywhere in the world through the Internet. The Access Point built into the Router uses a dual-band version of the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signals travel farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G.

Works fine once configured
I found the install program useless as I run Linux. But being familiar with other Linksys router configurations I was able to logon with the web interface to configure.
The FTP and USB On-Line storage setup (defining folders and permissions) issues were a bit confusing at first. They work but not as you might expect the first time through.

Great Price
Price beat several local stores like Best Buy by $40. Works good so far, although I dont really see any performance improvement over my US Robotics router which was junk. Linksys installation CD didnt work on my Win Vista machine. Good thing I know how to install a network. Router admin site isnt very specatacular. It's hard to find settings, and the local network table is buried deep, took me days to find it.

Wireless range is unacceptably short
I purchased this router new over a year ago. From the first day, I have been disappointed with the range of its wireless signal, which was only usable up to about 30 feet away from the router for the 2.4 gigahertz radio and even less for 5 gigahertz. During the past year, I tried various tactics to solve this problem: tweaking the wireless settings, upgrading the firmware, moving metal objects away from the router, etc. Some of these measures did improve the signal strength (measured using the freeware utility AP Grapher) by a couple percent, but nothing has changed my qualitative conclusion: the signal strength of this router is pathetic.
I have no issues with this router from a features / configuration standpoint; it does what it is specified to do. This is why I gave it two stars instead of one.
The inconsistency of review scores and assessments of wireless performance for this router leads me to believe that Linksys / Cisco has a quality control issue. For some reason, a substantial fraction of shipped product seems to be flawed in some way. So you might get lucky and receive a WRT610N that performs splendidly, or one whose wireless range is only suitable for a dorm room.

Great product
Great performance and reliability. The only thing that I did not like is that you have to install some software in a computer before using it.
