The 70-652 exam is part of the MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) certification path. Its also a requirement to achieve the higher level MCITP Windows Server 2008 R2 Virtualization Administrator certification.
As with other MCTS certifications, the 70-652 exam is targeted to a chosen technology. It's a way to showcase your skills to a potential employer in a particular technology or platform. In this case, the exam relates specifically to server virtualization using the Microsoft Hyper-V technology.
Before you take 70-652
Before you take this exam we recommend that you are completely comfortable using Hyper-V from a configuration point of view. You should have at least installed and configured Hyper-V from scratch. This includes knowing about the prerequisites and hardware requirements. The exam also covers optimizing Hyper-V using tools such as Machine Manager (SCVMM), Systems Center and general Server 2008 performance monitoring. As well as knowing how to install and configure virtual environments you must also know about deploying those virtual machines. Specifically migrating machines to Hyper-V, cloning virtual machines, managing templates and profiles.
Officially Microsoft recommend that you have at least a years experience (but preferably more) in working with the Windows Server 2008 and Hyper-V technologies in a virtualization administrators role. You should be familiar with Hyper-V, System Center Virtual Machine Manager, System Center Operations Manager, Windows PowerShell (v) and System Center Data Protection Manager.
