Minecraft | How to Create a Door Lock

Creating a door lock is actually a lot easier than most people think. You need to use Redstone and switches (levers). Essentially, you need a switch outside and a switch inside a room that you want to lock.

The switch outside will open and close the door but once the switch inside the room is used the circuit is disabled (disabling the outside switch).

Locks are great for stopping people entering rooms where you want to hide diamonds or other previous resources.

Instructions and Circuit Diagram for simple Door Lock

1. Add a door outside the room
2. Add a switch inside the room
3. Connect the switch to the door with Redstone (use a Redstone Torch under the door)
4. Add another Redstone torch in the middle of the wire circuit.
5. Add another switch outside of the room
6. Connect this switch to the Redstone wire between the door and the second Redstone torch

How does it work?

Because we have used two Redstone torches, once the inside switch is used the circuit is cut to the outside switch. The outside switch will only conduct electricity up until the first Redstone torch and not all the way until the house! Magic!
