Minecraft | How to Create a Shovel

A shovel is not as good as a pickaxe but it does help you collect dirt, sand, gravel, clay and snow faster than using your hands. In a similar way to creating a pickaxe, a shovel is created by combining 2 wooden sticks and 1 raw material.

Just as with the pickaxe, a shovel can be created from wood, cobblestone, iron, gold or diamond. Diamond is the strongest shovel you can create but the wooden shovel is more than sufficient for most needs.

Early in the game, the shovel is great at helping you collect raw materials such as clay to create bricks or sand to create TNT or slabs.

Shovel Recipe

1. Open the crafting grid
2. Drag 2 wooden sticks into the middle and bottom middle squares
3. Drag a raw material (wood, cobblestone, iron, gold or diamond) into the square above the wooden sticks
4. Drag and drop the new shovel and put it in your inventory to keep it

Why use a shovel?
