How to make a Daylight Sensor - Minecraft Crafting Recipe

The new Daylight Senor is a Redstone device, added during the Minecraft 1.5 Redstone update. The sensor is activated by the presence of sunlight and will trigger Redstone signals. We'll show you how to craft a daylight sensor and explain how it works.

Daylight Sensor - Crafting recipe

The recipe is actually incredibly simple. You'll just need glass, Nether quartz and a wooden half slab. Put these all together on the crating table and you've got yourself a daylight sensor.

How does it work?

The daylight sensor is activated by the presence of sunlight and hence only works during the day. When activated, any Redstone (or devices) are triggered and Redstone signals are generated in a similar way to a Redstone torch.

You can hook up your usual Redstone dust and any other powered items such as doors, pistons etc..
