List of hobbies for your CV

Posted in off topic

Writing a CV is a painstaking but necessary process for any job application. Whilst there are rules for the experience, skills and profile information you should include, little is often said about Hobbies and Interests. We list 50+ hobbies for you to include on your CV.

Adding hobbies and interest to your CV should be seen as an important element in helping portray the type of person you are. Your potential employer will not only want to know about your skills but whether you will fit in with the team. The hobbies section is the ideal place to do this.

When you add a hobby to your CV, try and include a reason why you like the hobby and maybe give an example or something you have achieved e.g.

"I'm passionate about football and regularly play for a local 5-a-side team. We recently reached the district cup final but lost 5-4 on penalties."

This statement lets the employer know you like football and take pride in playing for a local team. You are also bold enough to admit that you lost in a cup final.

What type of hobbies should you add?

At the end of the day - be honest. Don't make up hobbies or interests but instead add things you're genuinely interested in. Don't be afraid to include things such as computer games or recreational activities like going to the cinema.
