Twitter not for sale - Google Apple and Microsoft bids rejected

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone has told an American television show that the microblogging site Twitter is not for sale. Following weeks of speculation that Google, Apple and Microsoft have all failed in bidding for Twitter, the social networking site comes clean.
Stone gave an unequivocal "no" when asked by ABC's 'The View' host Barbara Walters whether Twitter was on the market. She mentioned persistent rumours that Google, Microsoft and Apple are interested in buying up the hottest internet company in town.
"We're just getting started as I've said," he told Walters.
"The company is two years old, we have so much to do, so much product stuff to fix, and so much growing to do."
Some people have seen Twitter rise to such heights that a take over from one of the big 3 would be inevitable. A tech guru from California stated "Twitter are right to turn down offers from larger companies, staying independent helps a site to grow naturally without outside interference".
It was throught that Twtiter would be sold for as much as $500m, after a bid by social networking behemoth Facebook, which was reportedly turned down at face value. Facebook and Twitter are the two arch enemies of the social networking scene with many of Facebooks users moving over to Twitter because of the recent buzz. The potential advertising revenue for Google would be huge, a give them another large chunk towards their trustworthy Adwords campaigns. Some have speculated that the advertising revenue generated by Twitter would be well into the billions. A hefty some for any investor.
Twitter has rapidly gained in popularity recently, with politicians and celebrities embracing the technology. It is reported that there are over seven million users in the US alone.
Actor Ashton Kutcher recently beat CNN to the punch, winning a challenge to be the first Twitter user to reach one million followers.
