It Came from the Desert 2 was the sequel to the amazing game from Cinemaware. A rare game which although was available in retail shops in Europe, it was only available through mail order in the US.
Following on from the original story, the second Queen ant is suspected to be alive in the town of Lizard Breath. Taking on the role of the Brick (an army officer) it was up to you to investigate the claims and ultimately destroy the ants once and for all.
It Came from the Desert 2 used the same familiar environments together with splendid graphics, music and again another good story. Many of the original characters make a return and some new elements were rolled in. Sadly these extras which included knife fights and car chases were pretty boring and added nothing.
The sequel is more like what we now call an ‘expansion pack’. Gamers had to own the original game to play the sequel, which is not the case for Amiga ROMS and today’s emulators. The cracked version bypasses the need for the original.
One of the more unique elements added in part 2 was the hospital escape (and the busty nurse of course!). Escaping the hospital would buy you time to continue your investigations but it came at a price. You had to avoid capture by the doctors/nurses while using various tactics including wheel chairs for a faster escape, hiding in other peoples beds and literally legging it down the corridors. A fun part of the game which lives long in the memory.
