How to play Black Ops Combat Training? Play offline?

The Call of Duty Black Ops game comes bundled with a new game mode called Combat Training where players can play Free For All and Team Deathmatch games against the computer. However it's not that easy to find the Combat Training menu option as many of you have found out!

Where is the Combat Training menu option?

Many of you will have tried to go straight into the Multiplayer menu option looking for Combat Training with no success. That's because Treyarch changed their plans for Combat Training at the last minute and it's not in the place we would expect it.

As a result, Treyarch have made the Combat Training option only available if you're online. This defeats the object for most players who just want to play one on one against the computer. The only reason we think they did this is because you can also play with friends against the AI. But why not make Combat Training available both online and offline?? Who knows..

So the bottom line is – if you want to play Combat Training you will need an internet connection. It doesn't matter how bad it is, you just need to go online and get onto Xbox Live. Its free to join Xbox Live with your Microsoft Live account, you don't need an Xbox Live subscription to play Combat Training.

What is Combat Training?

This is a new game mode in Black Ops where you can play multiplayer maps against the computer rather than playing against human players. It was originally meant as a way to practice the different maps before jumping into the heat of multiplayer battles.

The AI computer players in Combat Training are only clever enough to seek you out and they can't complete objective based tasks. As a result, the only two game modes available in Combat Training are Free For All and Team Death Match.

If playing the Team Deathmatch version of Combat Training it's possible to group all computer AI opponents together making for a 'zombie style' multiplayer game.
