Exo Zombies Outbreak - Exo Upgrades (Perk Machines) and Locations

Posted in advanced warfare

Similar to Treyarch's zombies mode, Exo Zombies has its own form of perk machine known as Exo Upgrades. Although the names are slightly different, the perk machines follow a similar principle. In this post I'll list each of the machines and let you know the abilities you gain by purchasing each of the upgrades.

Scattered throughout the Outbreak map, there are 5 Exo Upgrades. They include extra health, faster reload, power slam, faster revive and a few others. The cost varies for each of the upgrades and players spend credits rather than points in this mode. Credits are earned from killing zombies, using the credit machines and collecting credits in crates.

How to get the Exo Suit

Exo Suit room

Upon entering the Outbreak map you don't have your Exo Suit. It's actually hidden in one of the rooms of the map and it's not a simple case of finding the suit and equipping it. Instead you'll have to activate several power switches before the suit is unlocked. The key to locating the power switches is to follow the power cables leading up to the Exo Suit area - just trace the cables back to the power switches.

Tip: The Exo Suit room is in the center of the map.

Every player can equip their own Exo Suit and they're all found within close proximity to each other (inside blue chambers). Equipping your Exo Suit doesn't cost any credits and I recommend you go for the Exo as early as you can to get the punch attack but also so you can double jump away from danger.

Once you have your Exo Suit you can start to purchase Exo Upgrades (perks). These perk machines must be powered on one by one before they can be used.

Here's a list of perk machines found on the Outbreak map...

Exo Upgrade machine

Exo Health
Cost: 2500
Location: Holding area.

This perk machine gives you extra health aka Juggernog from Treyarch's zombie mode. Probably the most important perk machine in the game and always the first one that zombie fans will look for.

With the Health Upgrade you can take twice as many hits as you can without it. The upgrade costs a tidy sum of 2500 credits so saving up enough money while ensuring you've got a good weapon will take you a while.

Exo Reload
Cost: 2000

Reload your weapons faster aka Speed Cola from Treyarch's zombie mode. Another great perk and this one comes a close second after Health Exo in the chain of importance. I'd say that this upgrade becomes more important in the later rounds when zombies spawn faster and you're more likely to get surrounded.

Exo Medic
Cost: 1500
Location: RHS room from spawn

Revive teammates faster aka Quick Revive from Treyarch's zombie mode. Also gives you an extra life when playing the game solo. This perk is of high importance for SOLO players but less so for groups of players.

You do NOT need the Exo Suit to get this perk.

Exo Slam

Allows players to jump and slam on the ground, thus damaging zombies with an area of effect attack aka PhD Flopper from Treyarch's zombie mode. Directly hitting a zombie with the slam will kill it, whilst other zombies in close proximity are stunned rather than killed.

Exo Solider
Cost: 1750
Location: Small room off of Holding area.

Gives players steady aim and hip fire spread. Also seems to give players the ability to shoot and run faster. Very similar to Treyarch's Stamina perk machine which helps players move faster with heavy weapons and also reduces fall damage.

Losing perks

There's an interesting twist to perks in Exo Zombies. When a player is downed by a zombie they begin to bleed out - which we're all familiar with. The big difference in Sledgehammer's mode is that players start to lose their perks one by one, meaning that the longer you are down the more perks you will lose.

Perks will flash one by one until the player has no perks left.

Therefore, it's vital that players work together as a team to revive other team mates are soon as possible when they go down. Secondly and more importantly, I'd suggest you buy the more important Exo Upgrades first (so they're lost last when you go down) then buy your way through the other least important upgrades thereafter.
