The Forest Alpha - How to Save Progress?

The long awaited survival game is now available to buy on Steam, currently as an Alpha version. I picked up my copy today (launch day) and so far the games pretty good. One of the most popular questions is how do you save your progress in The Forest?

Well before the game hit the Steam store, the dev's explained that players would be able to save their progress by finding shelter, which could be the plane wreck, a camp site etc.. You would then sleep and your progress would be saved.

Shelters are built from resources that you find scattered around the map, mostly wood though. You can build small shelters such as camouflaged tents to much larger shelters which provide more protection from mutants.

Now the bad news. This feature DOES NOT WORK in the first alpha version! It's annoying but it's got to be expected from an early version of the game. I expect that the devs will release a new version very soon, possibly a week after launch.

For the moment, you must survive as long as you can and then restart your game again from the plane crash. That intro will get annoying but it's the only way to continue playing for now…
