Extinction Exodus - How to kill the Ancestors and Beat the Map

Posted in cod ghosts

Exodus, the final Extinction map for COD Ghosts is actually really good and made all the better by the fact there are no drills and some really badass aliens called The Ancestors. In this guide I'm going to provide some tips for killing the Ancestors and completing the map. The final cutscene for Exodus is really epic so you're going to want to beat this map for yourself.

First of all, the Exodus map contains all of the previous aliens from past Extinction maps, which means it's a hard one to beat. Now rather than cumbersome drills which you have to lug round, you've got to activate generators and wait for them to complete before moving onto the next one. These generators will restore power to the escape shuttle which evacuates personal away from the overrun city and to the space station.

The map is unlike other Extinction maps which were quite linear. Instead, this map is more reminiscent of the classic zombie maps which were large and open. Players have the choice to open areas and activate generators in any order.

When do Ancestors appear

Once you've activated a Generator you'll sometimes see an Ancestor, slowly creeping along the street, he'll be a glowing purple colour with a force field surrounding him. There's an icon above his head which looks like a squid.

As the alien gets closer to your position, he'll look for an opening to the generator room and then shoot black energy towards you. If he hits you with plasma then you shoot up in the air, which is quite frightening because there's nothing you can do while he holds you up there.

Extinction Exodus - Attack

If you don't kill the Ancestor he'll drift to the edge of the map and re-appear later.

Timing the attack

Extinction Exodus - Shield

At random intervals the Ancestor will activate its bubble shield (force field). When this bubble appears make sure you don't shoot the alien because he's invulnerable and all you'll do is waste precious ammo. Wait for the shield to disappear and then launch an attack immediately.

You'll need as much fire power as possible to kill off the Ancestor so get your team to deploy an IMS and other defensive equipment near the generator. This will buy you time to focus on the Ancestor and get him out of the way.

Using the NX-1 Disruptor Wonder Weapon

The new plasma wonder weapon in Exodus is the perfect choice for killing Ancestors. It's crafted using several components scattered around the map which you'll be able to assemble via a tool box.

The NX-1 Disruptor unleashes a small plasma bolt but it also has a secondary option. Holding down the fire button for 2-3 seconds will charge the Disruptor allowing you to fire a powerful beam. A direct hit with this beam will deal an incredible amount of damage to an Ancestor.

The other great thing about the wonder weapon is that it'll recharge itself so there's no need to find more ammo.

If you don't have the WW then use an automatic weapon with high damage rounds such as explosive or incendiary shells to provide a stream of concentrated fire. It's important that players avoid getting hit by the Ancestor otherwise they'll be incapacitated up in the sky for several seconds, so make sure you use cover wisely.

Upgraded portable grenade turrets are also effective weapon against the Ancestors especially if several team members can deploy one. The high round, high fire rate which comes from the skill point upgrade will help you finish off an Ancestor in seconds.
