No Man’s Sky - How to Get Warp Cell’s

Posted in no mans sky

Warp Cell's are craftable fuel items in No Man's Sky that help you Fast Travel to different galaxies and explore more planets on your way to the center of the universe. In order to travel light years into the distance you'll need Warp Cell's for your Hyperdrive. These consumable items are the recommended way to enter Light Speed and engage in long distance travel, although you can also take your chances with Black Holes and Portals.

So how do you actually get Warp Cells in the game?

Warp Cell's are a craftable item that you earn from random loot or rewards, but you can also build Warp Cell's yourself from within the games crafting screen. It's a rather complex item, that has several crafting steps before you actually get to the final build.

Using the Warp Cell

Warp Cell in inventory

Once you have a Warp Cell in your inventory it's simply a case of consuming the cell to power your ship, ready for a new light speed jump. These "jumps" are initiated from the overall map - simply pick a system that you want to "jump" to and off you go.

Step by Step

  1. Open your Ships Inventory
  2. Place the cursor over the Hyperdrive
  3. Press X to charge (on PS4)

Warping between systems is a bunny hop process in No Man's Sky; it consumes your current cell and requires an additional cell to make another jump. As you hop between systems, you will gradually get closer and closer to the center of the universe and the end game.

Every time you hop to a new system, you'll need to recoup some of the ingredients that you used to create your previous Warp Cell. As highlighted above, these start from a holding of Carbon with Plutonium, Heridium, Zinc and Thamium9 need later. You should also try interacting with NPC's at space stations and looting the crates there as well.
