Black Ops 2 Die Rise - Strategy and Tips for High Levels

Black Ops 2 Die Rise - Strategy and Tips for High Levels

Posted in black ops 2

This strategy guide will help you conquer the new Die Rise zombies map for Black Ops 2. Get to those high levels by following these simple but highly effective tips. We'll help you take the right path, buy the best gun, get the right perks and find that perfect spot for zombie trains!

This strategy is for solo but it makes just as much sense for multiplayer too..

Early Rounds - How to Get More Points and Faster

It's amazing how many people forget this part..

Make sure you shoot zombies 6 times before stabbing them on the first round and continue this strategy into the second round. You'll need more stabs but you're going to rack up the points much faster.

Anytime you get the chance to fire some extra rounds into the zombie before a stab, go for it!

Important

  • Avoid the nuke, you'll miss out on important points.
  • Also avoid using grenades at all costs!!

Which Direction to Choose?

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 1

When you first spawn on Die Rise you've got two directions to choose from. The lift that takes you down to the power room or the double door through to the elevator and Trample Steam workbench.

If you're playing solo then you always want to head through the double doors and purchase the quick revive perk. Then perform the 'cheat' for gaining the persistent perk for Juggernog (perma-perk).

Persistent Perk - Juggernog

If you're on multiplayer, then forget the double doors! They're going to offer very little in return for 750. Head down to the power room instead.

Gaining Persistent Perk - Juggernog (solo)

If you're playing on solo then we strongly recommend you get the Juggernog persistent perk as early as possible. It's very easy to do and takes only minutes to achieve.

Once collected, the persistent perk is going to increase the number of hits you can take from zombies from 2 to 4. That's double the number of hits before going down. Combined with the Jug drink and you get 6 hits.

Persistent Perk - Juggernog

Rounds 3-7 - Turn on Power, Sliquifier, Bowie Knife and Free Perk

During the early rounds, you need to accomplish 3 things:

  • Turn on the power
  • Build Sliquifier
  • Buy Bowie Knife
  • Get free perk

Turning on the power is the most important part of the early strategy, you need to be able to move around the map freely to collect perks and purchase ammo.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 2

Once the power is on, use the elevators to move to the floor below (and vice versa). Collect the parts and build the Sliquifier (only open one barrier to the stairs and get the part from the TV room). We won't use the Sliquifier yet but we'll need it in later rounds.

Now head up to the top of the building using the elevator.

Collect enough points using knife kills and buy the Bowie Knife before the end of round 4.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 3

Now that you've got the bowie knife it's going to make collecting points even easier. It's also going to help you get that free perk from the minions.

How to Get the Free Perk?

Die Rise comes with a new boss round (minions) which first appear in rounds 5-7 and then every 5-7 rounds. Although annoying, they are easy to kill if you don't let yourself get cornered. To gain the free perk make sure you kill all the minions without missing a shot. Knifing is a good strategy as it ensures that you'll always get the perk.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 8

Tip: Try crouching while stabbing the minions.

Gaining the free perk is obviously harder to accomplish on multiplayer because your team mates must do exactly the same. One missed bullet and you can forget it.

Which Perks to Buy and Which Order

In our opinion, these are the best perks to buy in order. If you're on multiplayer, skip step 1:

  • 1. Quick revive (solo - persistent perk)
  • 2. Juggernog
  • 3. Double Tap
  • 4. Who's Who
  • 5. Mule Kick
  • 6. Speed Cola

Rounds 7-9 - Buy MP5, Get More Perks, Buy Claymore

Now you've got the Bowie Knife - cruise through rounds 7-9 using only the knife. After round 9 the knife becomes useless because it takes two swipes to kill a zombie.

At about round 8 or 9 you want to purchase the MP5 to set yourself up for the later rounds. This gun has plenty of ammo and is the perfect complement to Double Tap in the early rounds.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 4

The most important perks to buy at this stage are:

  • Double Tap
  • Juggernog
  • Mule Kick

Once you reach round 9, make sure you buy the Claymores for later..

Rounds 9-12 - Buddha Room, Zombie Trains, Free Perk

Now things are getting interesting! We've set ourselves up with a decent gun and perks, and we're ready to move on to the Buddha room. This is one of the largest rooms on the map and a good contender for zombie trains!

On the way to the Buddha room, pick up the AN-94 gun on the wall (bottom of the shaft). We'll pack-a-punch this later.

Between rounds 9-15 you're also going to see the minions again. This is another opportunity to get a free perk using your Bowie Knife. Remember to crouch to make things easier.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 5

Continue using the MP5 and AN-94 in the Buddha room. Use head shots to save ammo and move in circles to avoid getting hit by zombies. Thanks to the persistent perk you shouldn't get downed because there's enough space to move away from a tight situation.

Stay on the ground level of the Buddha room and keep close to the bottom side (nearer the ledge).

Resist using the Sliquifier just yet.

Rounds 12-15 Weapons Box

Now the MP5 is really starting to lose its effectiveness and we need a more powerful weapon. You should have about 10,000 points by now.

Wait till you're near the end of the round and leave a crawler or a couple of zombies. Now head over to the weapons box and it's time to gamble..

We're looking for:

  • Monkey Bombs
  • HAMR or MTAR

The weapons box room should give you enough space to stay clear of any zombie attacks while you move in circles. If however, you find yourself under pressure then use the Sliquifier to avoid getting cornered.

Round 15+ Pack-a-Punch AN-94, Galvanized Knuckles

Now we want to pack-a-punch the weapon from the weapons box (or the AN-94 which we grabbed from the wall earlier). We also want to buy the galva knuckles (which are located in the shaft). With those weapons, we're set up for the high rounds now.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 6

Head back to the Buddha room and continue the fight using the following techniques..

Trains as they're commonly known, are large groups of zombies that follow behind you in a line. Zombies follow you via their direct line of sight - path finding. By running in large circles, zombies will gather behind you as they constantly re-adjust their line of sight.

As you run, avoid zombies in front of you by shifting to the left or right, allowing the zombie to fall behind you and join the train. Combine walking and running so you don't catch up with the tail of the train.

Zombies Die Rise - Strategy and Tips 7

Once the train is long enough, periodically turn and unleash your full ammo in a straight line. Alternatively, place claymores to take out a chunk of the train. Semtext is also a valuable item in destroying lines of zombies because it sticks to the front of the group thus killing a large bulk. Unfortunately, crawlers are a nightmare when running trains so be careful!

Repeat this process and even use the Sliquifier to increase the kill count and keep progressing.

If you're on solo, building trains is relatively easy because you've got that extra space to play around with. With all good things there's a bad side and that means longer trains and no friends to revive you.

Building trains is the number one technique for reaching the 20+ rounds and we recommend you stick to the Buddha room.

Good luck!!

Advanced Techniques

  • Use pack-a-punch to get Mustang and Sally - the train killer!
  • Build Trample Steam and deploy as last line of defence - works better when all 4 players get them
  • Use one teammate as train builder and other players as killers
  • Use Sliquifier on door openings and spawn paths
  • Stay close together not in opposite buildings (multiplayer)
  • Use monkey bombs as deterrent during revive situations (multiplayer)
