MCTS 70-506 Exam Overview

Silverlight was released in June 2010 and version 4 includes new features such as:

  • Support for Google Chrome
  • Web cam and microphone support
  • Printing support
  • Notification support for displaying messages
  • Implicit theming of controls
  • WCF enhancements
  • Enhanced data binding support
  • Enhanced animation effects


Silverlight applications can be written using any of the .NET programming languages such as VB .NET or C#. As long as developers target the Silverlight CoreCLR they can host their applications in Silverlight as opposed to the CLR.

Before taking the 70-506 exam



Microsoft recommends that you have at least 6 months experience with Silverlight development. You should also have at least 1 years experience of .NET and consuming data services.
