Batman Arkham Knight - Panessa Studios Rooftop Antenna Walkthrough

Batman Arkham Knight - Panessa Studios Rooftop Antenna Walkthrough

Posted in arkham knight

Panessa Studios is one of the locations you'll come across early in the game. It's the first time that your Batmobile problem solving skills come into play, particularly when trying to get onto the roof of the studio to access the antenna.

The mission starts with a trip to see Oracle at the clocktower. Simply gliding over to the tower and dropping down through the roof is enough to gain access to Oracles location. Use Detective mode to find the head statue and pull it to transform the clocktower into a high tech control room.

Following the short dialogue with Oracle your new objective becomes:

New objective: Use the Panessa Studios Antenna to pinpoint Scarecrow's location

This is where the mission starts to get tricky and since it's your first time using the Batmobile, the puzzles can be a little confusing to work out. Upon landing near the location of the waypoint, you're greeted by a message from Lucius to confirm that your new Power Winch is ready for the Batmobile. This winch is the catalyst for most of the puzzles in this mission.

New objective: Collect the Power Winch for the Batmobile

Nothing too tricky here, just head over to the waypoint near the Gotham City Lighthouse and wait for the Batmobile to come screeching round the corner. Hop inside and a neat cutscene plays with the Batwing arming the Batmobile with the new upgrade. Lucius follows soon after with a short comms broadcast asking Batman how he intends to get on the roof. Pay attention to this cutscene because it implicitly displays the correct route for reaching the antenna.

How to get on the Panessa Studios rooftop

This is the tricky part of the mission and the ultimate goal is to navigate the Batmobile onto the Panessa Studios roof. You can't escape from the fact that the Batmobile must get to the roof because Batman doesn't have the necessary tools to activate the Antenna alone.

New objective: Power up the Panessa Studios Antenna with the Batmobile Power Winch

Directly in front of you is Urbarail Station but there's a gap between the cliff edge and the rooftop. Hold L2 (PS4) to fire the Power Winch and full reverse to rip down the front of the station, thus revealing the rooftop.

Urbarail Station

Reverse back down the road and set yourself up for a long run up. Accelerate at top speed and boost for a few seconds to fly across and onto the rooftop. If you fail to make the jump, you'll need to complete a circle to find your way back to the ramp again.

rip roof to make ramp

Once you've made it onto the roof, you'll find yourself in an enclosed area with no obvious route to explore the roof. From your landing point, turn right and spot the part of the roof that's slightly protruding.

Aim the Power Winch and take a shot at the rooftop (see image above). Reverse and rip away part of the roof, revealing a hole. Don't make the same mistake as me and explore the hole - it offers nothing in reward. Instead take note that the rooftop now looks like a ramp - this is going to help you jump to the upper level of the roof.

jump over gap to roof

Take a short run up and again accelerate to jump to the upper section of the roof. Now follow the route round and use Battle Mode to make the navigation a little easier. After following the route anticlockwise as far as it goes there's one more gap that you need to get across.

Activate Battle Mode and use the Power Winch to snap onto an anchor point just across the gap.

Anchor point for winch

Full reverse the car and Batman soon notifies you that the winch can't rip down the wall. Instead, just drive off the edge and the winch will hold the cars weight. Now accelerate and you'll climb the building edge just like a spider.

Enter Battle mode and work your way left and round to the waypoint. Again use the Power Winch but this time accelerate the car gradually and keep within the little orange marker on the accelerometer to complete this puzzle and activate the antenna.
