Battlefield 1 - Codex Entries and Unlocks

Battlefield 1 contains a new series of unlockables called Codex Entries. These mini-achievements are unlocked in-game and appear directly as their own notification on the left side of the screen. Players can unlock many different Codex, each one counting towards greater unlocks and achievements.
Codex are like mini-challenges, some simple, others more complex. A good example of a Codex is "Colonial-Troops" which players can unlock by performing 3 kill assists. As you can see this is a very simple Codex which doesn't take very long to complete.
Other good examples are "Storm of Steel" unlocked by killing 10 enemies with a stationary weapon, "Villers-Bretonneux" unlocked by winning a single game on Amiens and "Breakthrough at Last" unlocked by winning a single game of Operations.
Campaign missions have their own set of unique Codex which are typically harder to achieve and also contextual to that map and environment. For example, during the early missions there is a Codex called "Guiding Bess" which challenges you to get through the forest without being detected by the enemy.
Pausing a campaign mission displays the unlockable Field Manuals and Codex Entries for that mission (see image above).

Codex Achievements
The complete list of Battlefield 1 achivements contains just over 30 trophies, with several of these requiring the player to unlock a number of Codex throughout the game.
As you can see from the list below, some Codex are unique to particular maps. For example in the case of "Conquering the mountains" players must unlock all Codex in Avanti Savoia! - a single player mission from the campaign. You can view the number of mission specific Codex in the bottom left hand corner of the deployment screen before starting a Campaign mission.
Of the five Codex achievements, two are rare and the others are common.

A full list of Codex will appear here including updates of newly discovered entries. You can also view Codex entries under the "Solider" tab from the games main menu. When unlocked, Codex entries show unique historical entries, each one describing lore for the WW1 period.
