At the Xbox One reveal, Infinity ward showed us the first gameplay footage of the Call of Duty Ghosts game. Running on the new console and also on an entirely new game engine, the next COD game looks impressive. Infinity Ward have added new features including dynamic maps (similar to BF3/BF4), character customization, lean, mantle and multiplayer traps.

Everyone was expecting Infinity Ward to play it safe with Ghosts this year, but instead they've introduced an entirely new world, a new engine and a new story (with help from the writer of Traffic).

Ghosts starts off as the world faces a major event, America is crippled - military forces are devastated and the government is in disarray. As the player you're the underdog fighting back against these superior forces.

The team you form part of is made up of the remanence of all the special forces. Ghosts are super elite fighting force who have adopted every technique from modern, urban and guerilla style fighing.

New Engine



Many new tech features including self casting shadows, boosted polycount and volume metric lighting. All running at 60 fps.

Dogs



Dogs play a bigger role in Ghosts. They'll sniff explosives for you and even help protect other team members.

New Graphics - Sub-D



Sub-D is a visual improvement to the COD engine that helps maintain curvature the closer you get to elements.

Mantle System



The new mantle is like a smooth leap to overcome obstacles. You can combine this with running to literally slide over obstacles while continuing your momentum..

Lean Feature



For the first time in COD, you can now lean from behind walls. Rather than exposing your entire body, you can lean around walls exposing only your head and firing arm.

Infinity described this as 'get out of the line of fire and do it in a really cool way'. Seems similar to the normal COD jump/prone to us.

AI



Certain elements in the game react to your presence. For example, in the scuba diving level, the fish will swim away from you if you get too close. This is just one example of how the environments are dynamic.

Dynamic Maps - Multiplayer



Dynamic maps is one of the biggest additions in COD Ghosts. These include everything from earthquakes to player driven actions including doors, explosive traps and things that change the flow of the map.
