Rave in the Redwoods includes Werewolf, Slasher, Thug Brute and Crossbow Wonder Weapon

Posted in infinite warfare

Infinite Warfare's first zombies DLC, aptly named "Rave in the Redwoods", takes place in the middle of a forest rave but there's certainly darker secrets than just ravers to worry about. In the official gameplay trailer we saw a neon glowing slasher, an oversized brute, a glimpse of new weapons and even Kevin Smith.

With only a week to go until the launch of DLC 1, Lee Ross hinted that we would see the first gameplay trailer soon and he certainly wasn't lying. Posted up a little early, the trailer clearly shows that Rave in the Redwoods takes a familiar movie cast, and throws them into a darker, tighter and supposedly more difficult map to master.

A further livestream is scheduled for tonight, when we expect to see further gameplay and details from Lee Ross himself. The trailer is enough to divulge for now but I'll add further details to this post if necessary.

For the first Infinity Ward zombies map, ZiS wasn't a bad start. Taking many elements from Treyarch's zombies series, this year's Call of Duty title has enough of the likeable features to provide a strong DLC season that I think fans will really look forward to.

So let's take a look at this first official gameplay trailer for the DLC 1 zombies map and try and breakdown some of the new features that we'll see.

Trailer Breakdown

Neon Raver Brute / Slasher

Neon Raver Brute / Slasher

The first of the new zombies in Rave in the Redwoods, the slasher brute was shown briefly in the trailer, holding what appears to be a chainsaw. He's dressed in bright neon clothing, which we can assume matches the rave scene, and I guess we will see (and probably hear) this guy coming from a distance!!

Confirmed during the livestream, this Slasher spawns during Rave mode.

Thug Brute

Thug Brute

Towards the end of the trailer we also got a glimpse of a second brute zombie which is actually the same slasher but without his rave gear. I guess he's a cross between the slasher and a brute with some trigger in-game to signify that. During the trailer he comes crashing down from above so we can expect that this is exactly how he'll arrive during the game too. I imagine that given his obvious size, he'll move slower than the slasher version but still be hard to defeat - your typical bullet sponge!

On his arms there are metal chains and rather worryingly, there is a chainsaw blade impaled in his back - that could just be the camera angle and the fact he's carrying the saw in this mode!!

Werewolf Zombie

Appearing near the start of the trailer, the wolf zombie could be yet another BOSS style zombie, or maybe the dog round alternative. Whatever it turns out to be, a supernatural wolf certainly fits in with the whole Friday 13th vibe.

Crossbow Weapon

Crossbow Weapon

An explosive crossbow weapon with a huge blast radius - this weapon may be one of the maps wonder weapons. It also has the distinctive PaP camo with neon colour scheme.

Flogger Trap

Flogger Trap

The classic Flogger trap which goes all the way back to World at War (Shino Numa) is included. This medieval trap consists of a larger wooden pole with spikes attached. It rotates around, sweeping away any zombies caught underneath in it's trajectory.

New Character Styles

Cast / Characters

Four stranded companions take on the Redwoods map: Sally, Poindexter, AJ, Andre. Sally is now tough, Poindexter a raver, AJ hip hop, Andre is now a rapper.

Kevin Smith is the guest character that appears.

Music Artists / Tracks

The music in Rave in the Redwoods is area contextual rather than being played by a DJ. As you move into different areas the songs will change. Not all of the music tracks were shown in the trailer nor livestream but we know the following artists are included so far:

  1. The Crystal Method - Busy Child
  2. Rabbit in the Moon - [Unknown]
  3. Aphex Twin - [Unknown]
  4. The Prodigy - [Unknown]
  5. The Future Sound of London - [Unknown]
