ITIL exams can be taken worldwide although there are currently only 8 fully accredited ITIL examination institutes. Registering for an exam can be done either through an accredited ITIL training provider as part of a ITIL course or you can register for an ITIL exam directly yourself.
In the UKThere are several accredited examination institutes based in the UK. These offer exam dates for the full range of ITIL levels from foundation, intermediate to Practitioner.
They are:

EXIN is probably the best examination institute for taking your ITIL exam. You just need to register for your exam using well known testing systems such as Promteric and Pearson VUE. Simply find a test centre, register for your exam and pay the fee. Registering for an ITIL exam this way is hassle free, simple and you have the option to choose the date to take the exam. APMG-UK have what they call an Open Center where you can register to take an ITIL exam. These are usually every month based in Milton Keynes. Its only about 5 minutes drive from the Central train station, just navigate yourself around the never ending roundabouts.
To register for the Open Center exams you need to complete the APMG application form and email it to the service desk at APMG along with your credit card details. If you are worried about sending your card details by post (are we wouldn't blame you!) you can also call them directly to register.
It's advisable to book your exam early as there are only a limited number of places during these exam days.
Similar to APMG, the BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT) offers exam dates but these are usually every two months. Its also a simple case of downloading the ITIL Registration Form from the BCS website and returning it along with the appropriate fee. If you want to pay by card, you can also call the payment line.
In the USIf you are based in the US, you will need to use CSME to find a testing centre. These are scattered around the globe with the centres in Brazil, US, Canada, France, Portugal, Norway, Italy, Turkey, Poland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. To register for an exam, just contact the testing centre directly.
