Minecraft | How to Collect Resources

If you want to survive in Minecraft you'll need to collect resources and learn how to craft new items. Crafting items using the inventory, crafting table and furnace is an essential skill that allows you to create more advanced items, tools, weapons and even armour. Raw resources are combined together to create more elaborate items such as swords, doors and minecarts.

When you first play Minecraft, you'll have nothing. Your inventory will be empty and its important to act quickly to survive your first night.

To collect items follow these steps:

1. Walk up to a resource you want to collect e.g. a tree (see controls section if you're unsure)
2. Point the cursor at the resource e.g. a tree trunk
3. Hold the left mouse button to begin mining the resource
4. Once destroyed, the resource will be available to pick up
5. Just walk over the resource to collect it.
6. You will see the new resource in your inventory (press E to view inventory)
