Minecraft | How to Create a Torch
A torch is a useful item when the sun has gone down and it starts getting dark. It's also very handy to have a torch when you're exploring underground in dungeons or caves. Without a source of light, its impossible to see where you're going and where monsters are coming from. Most good players will line a cavern with torches so they can explore them freely.
It is one of the many blocks that emits light and is currently permanent until Notch (the creator of Minecraft) decides to make them burn out. When he does this, you'll need to create lanterns instead which will stay lit for much longer.
To create a torch you'll need the following raw materials:
Using a crafting grid, drag and drop the items onto the grid in this order:
1. Coal in the central square
2. Stick in the bottom middle square
3. The new torch will be created in the RHS square
4. Just drag that torch back into your inventory to keep it
